Special Meeting
June 1, 2010
6:30 p.m.
Council met in Special Session at the call of Mayor Sulzer pursuant to written notice dated and delivered May 28, 2010, for the purpose of considering two items of legislation described in the Notice with the following seven members present: Ames, Cross, Lester, Malone, Proehl, Sharp and Siberell. (Mrs. Patrick and Mr. Trutschel absent.) There was 1 media representative and 3 other visitors present, in addition to Mayor Sulzer and City Auditor Spetnagel.
Mr. Proehl moved and Mrs. Malone seconded that Item #1 be amended by replacing the original version with the substitute version distributed tonight. All members present voted “yea” and Pres. Arnold declared the motion adopted.
Ord. No. 52-10accepting and appropriating insurance proceeds in the amount of $92,136.94 received to repair damages to fire truck tower #1, and declaring an emergency was read for the first time by title only. Mr. Proehl moved and Mrs. Malone seconded that the three reading rule be suspended, placing this item on final passage. All members present voted “yea” and Pres. Arnold declared the motion adopted. All members present then voted “yea” on the item itself, and Pres. Arnold declared Ord. No. 52-10 adopted.
An Ordinance appropriating $32,500.00 as the city’s ten percent (10%) match to the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant awarded to the city, and declaring an emergency was read for the first time by title only. Mr. Proehl moved and Mrs. Lester seconded that the three reading rule be suspended, placing this item on final passage. All members present voted “yea” except Mr. Sharp, who voted “nay”, and Pres. Arnold declared the motion to have failed.
Mr. Siberell reminded everyone that there will be a meeting of the Finance Committee tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m., in the first floor conference room of the Administration Building.
Mrs. Ames moved and Mrs. Malone seconded that Council excuse the absences of Mrs. Patrick and Mr. Trutschel. All members present voted “yea” and Pres. Arnold declared the motion adopted.
Mrs. Malone moved and Mrs. Lester seconded that the meeting be adjourned. All members present voted “yea” and Pres. Arnold declared the motion adopted. Adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
