Annual Trout Derby
Get the fishing season off to a great start!  Each spring ODNR, Division of Wildlife releases trout into Yoctangee Lake.  Then, the Parks & Recreation Department host a fishing derby for children 5 – 15 years of age.  Participants are encouraged to keep the trout the catch (5 fish limit).  Children must be accompanied by a parent of legal guardian.

10th Annual Arbor Day Celebration
This has been an annual event for the past 8 years.  A celebration is held in Yoctangee Park with area fourth grade children participating in several educational demonstrations ranging from wildlife to chainsaw carving.  Children and their teachers pack a lunch and spend an enjoyable, as well as educational, day in Yoctangee Park.

Passport To Fishing
Prior to this annual event Yoctangee Park Lake is stocked with approximately 400 Catfish, with some of the fish being tagged for prizes.  A prize is also given to the largest catch of the day.  All school age children and their families are encouraged to participate.

Chillicothe Day with the Reds
The Cincinnati Reds will take on the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday April 24, game time is 1:10 pm.  Tickets may be purchased in the Parks & Recreation office, 19 Enderlin Circle, Yoctangee Park.  Tickets may not be reserved by phone.  They are first come first served with only a limited quantity available.

Fourth of July Fireworks
This is the largest display of fireworks in our area, aside from Red White & Boom, held in Columbus. Chillicothe is centrally located and only minutes away from many smaller communities.  Family oriented activities are schedule throughout the day in Yoctangee Park culminating with the fireworks display at dusk.
Be sure to bring the entire family and spend a fun filled day in beautiful Yoctangee Park.

Arts and Crafts
This program travels throughout the city’s parks and playgrounds and is designed for school age children 12 and under.

Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament
All proceeds from this tournament go to the Chillicothe Parks & Recreation Capital Improvement Fund.  This is a four person, best ball scramble.  Skill games with prizes are held on every hole along with a skins game.  Coffee and donuts are served in the morning before tee off, brats and hotdogs are served on the 9th hole, and a steak dinner awaits at the end of play.  Everyone goes home with a door prize.  This is one of the most popular golf tournaments in this area.  For more information contact the Parks & Recreation office.

The Chillicothe Parks & Recreation Department makes every effort to conduct classes and programs we advertise.  However, in fairness to instructors, there is a point when courses must be cancelled due to insufficient registration.  With this in mind, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to sign up for a class, athletic or educational program.  You could be the one participant needed to meet the required minimum and save that class’ life!
